Accreditation and Assessment

Accreditation

Accreditation is a process that certifies the quality and effectiveness of academic offerings, educational activities, administration, financial stability, admissions, student services, institutional resources, student academic achievement, institutional effectiveness, and relationships with organizations outside the college. Assessment

Students' opinions are important to us. The information gathered from students is used by Southeast to adjust programs and services so we can improve the college experience.

For this reason, the college engages in a formal survey process at least every other year. Students may be asked to complete the Ruffalo Noel Levitz Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI), which is a well-established tool that helps institutions focus on good educational practice and identify areas in which they can improve their programs and services for students.

Furthermore, Southeast's assessment is part of the accreditation process. It is a system of gathering, verifying, communicating, and evaluating information related to the mission and goals of the college and measures college effectiveness and student academic achievement. Assessment can be measured in such forms as surveys, pretests and post-tests, course measurements, program outcomes/expectations, job placement results, and reports of results.

Student may be asked to participate in any of the following opportunities to provide input to Southeast:

  • New Entering Student Survey
  • Student Opinion Survey
  • End-of-course surveys
  • Participation on program advisory committees and focus groups
