Paying for College

Grants and Scholarships

Red Wing Scholarship Winners 2017At Minnesota State College Southeast, we understand that your education is a significant financial investment. Grants and scholarships can help you reduce the cost. Unlike student loans, grants and scholarships provide money for your education that you do not have to pay back after you graduate.

Grants

Grants are based on financial need as determined when you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Minnesota Dream Act Application. Most grants are awarded by our financial aid department and do not require any additional application to process. More information

Scholarships

Scholarships are typically awarded based on specific criteria, such as financial need, academic success, personal goals, and area of study. This is money that does not need to be paid back and can be used for tuition, books, materials, tools, or your living expenses.

MSC Southeast Foundation Scholarships

The Minnesota State College Southeast Foundation is proud to support students' financial needs by awarding Foundation Scholarships

External Scholarships

In addition, many external organizations provide annual scholarships based on a variety of criteria.

"I was planning to go part-time this semester and only take 6 credits, because I am paying out of pocket for my education. However I was awarded both a Foundation scholarship and a Workforce Development Scholarship and now I have decided to take one more class as a result, which will help me reach my career goal sooner. I am thrilled to receive this extra financial support. Thank you!" -- Anonymous Student, Fall 2021
