Description

LOCATION:  

Onsite; 7100 Dresser Dr NE, Rochester MN 55906

HOURS:  

~16-20 hours per week Monday-Friday during the business day (hours will be flexible around class schedule)

POSITION SUMMARY:  

This Engineer Intern (part-time) role provides comprehensive support to the engineering team, focusing on CAD modeling, manufacturing documentation, and project management. At ADDMAN you’ll be part of a rapidly growing world class engineering team, commonly interfacing internally with program managers, materials and process engineers, product development, quality, technicians, assemblers, machinists, and leadership.    

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

CAD – modeling and detailing 

  • Create models as required based on project requirements.  
  • Create detailed drawings for manufactured components. 
  • Follow and use company templates for detailing. 
  • Use industry standards where applicable. 

Manufacturing Engineering Support 

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, setup sheets, inspection sheets and other supporting documents. 
  • Assist with part number entry, bill of material entry, maintenance of routers using Global Shop (ERP). 
  • Offer input to engineering discussions and decisions to ensure that engineering is complete before manufacturing begins. 

Project Documentation 

  • Prepares appropriate, detailed documentation related to the project. 
  • Documents and implements engineering changes initiated by the customer or internally. 
  • May develop tooling design and redesign with supervisors to reduce manufacturing costs and/or improve quality. 
  • Develops and maintains a rapport with employees to ensure that projects are completed smoothly and effectively. 
Requirements

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Commitment to a safety culture where safety is the first consideration before starting any task. 
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities to exceed customer expectations 
  • Works independently, strong work ethic, is self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision  
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams to support the core business, ensuring quality products are delivered on time 
  • Computer aptitude (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel) 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing a 2-year technical degree in CAD drafting, or machining 
  • Experience with SolidWorks modeling and development of parts/drawings 
  • Proficient PC Skills in a Windows environment 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing a 4-year Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree 
  • Experience developing CNC programs 
  • Experience with special processes, i.e., plating, welding, heat treat, etc. 
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the design and selection of fixturing and tooling for complex parts 
  • Previous experience in the machining industry, job shop machining preferred 
  • Experience with ISO quality systems and World Class Manufacturing principles 
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Experience with ERP systems 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

  • The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shops, and other mandatory safety equipment. 
  • For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sit or stand as needed. 
  • Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. 
  • Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday. 
  • Proper lifting techniques required. 
  • Ability and comfortability to work in small confine spaces while following proper safety protocol.
