About the Accuplacer

Do I need to take the Accuplacer?

A student shall be exempted from taking the Accuplacer based on the following criteria:

  • Transcripts from a higher education institution documenting an A.A.S degree or higher.
  • Transcripts from a higher education institution showing grades of "D" or better in comparable college level courses in mathematics and English. 
  • Reported high school grade point averages:
    • For college level English classes you need a 2.6 or higher.
    • For college Algebra or Statistics you need a 2.8 and completion of Algebra II with a C- or higher.
    • You must have graduated within the past 10 years.
     
  • ACT scores of 21 in reading and 18 in English to be exempt from the reading portion of the Accuplacer. ACT score of 22 in math to be exempt from the math portion of the Accuplacer. Student must provide a copy of their ACT scores showing the test has been taken within five calendar years. 
  • MCA (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment) score of 1047 in reading to be exempt from the reading portion of the Accuplacer.  MCA score of 1158 in math to be exempt from the math portion of the Accuplacer. Student must provide a copy of their MCA scores. MCA tests must have been taken within five calendar years. 
  • SAT score of 480 in reading to be exempt from the reading portion of the Accuplacer. SAT score of 530 in math to be exempt from the math portion of the Accuplacer. Student must provide a copy of their SAT scores. SATs must have been taken within five calendar years. 
  • Previously completed Accuplacer placement scores: Math placement scores must be within 2 years. Reading placement scores must be within 5 years.

Scheduling the Accuplacer

Whether taking the Accuplacer on campus or online, you will need a Remote Voucher to schedule your Accuplacer. To receive a Remote Voucher, please fill out and submit the request form.

Please allow up to 5 business days for your voucher request to be processed.

Understanding Your Placement Score

After completing the Accuplacer, the proctor will be available to help answer your questions and explain your placement scores. Your academic advisor will also be informed of your score so they can advise you in class selection.

You may also log into eServices and look under the Courses and Registration tab to view your course placement levels.
