Student Handbook - Section D: Planning Your Academic Path

Transferring to Another Institution

A student looking to transfer to another institution should meet with their academic advisor to discuss options. If a student knows the institution they wish to transfer to, they should call or visit with an admissions advisor at the prospective transfer college to obtain the following:

  • Information on admissions criteria and materials required for admission (e.g., portfolio, transcripts, test scores). Some majors have limited enrollments or their own special requirements, such as a higher-grade point average.
  • Information on financial aid (how to apply and by what date).
  • College course information and how to register.

A student should also consider making an appointment with an academic advisor in the department or program major of choice to plan the necessary steps and learn more about the course transfer and admission criteria specific to your proposed major.
