Minnesota State College Southeast welcomes members of visiting delegation from Mexico
Invited by Governor Mark Dayton, a large delegation of business, higher education and government leaders from Mexico is visiting Minnesota from October 3-7, 2016. Two of the delegates, both directors in the education system in the state of Baja California, toured Minnesota State College Southeast with President Dr. Dorothy Duran on Wednesday, October 6.
Héctor Rivera Valenzuela, Subsecretario de Educación Media, Superior; Superior, e Investigatión y Posgrado (Under Secretary of Secondary and Post-Secondary Education) and Luis Armondo Portillo Apodaca, Director de Evaluación Educativa (Director of Education Evaluation) toured the Red Wing campus, taking special interest in the college's unique band, violin, and guitar repair programs.
After visiting Red Wing, the delegates traveled on to tour the MSC Southeast Winona campus, visiting several labs with Dean of Trade and Technology Travis Thul, including biomedical equipment technology, carpentry, electronics technology, and welding.
The purpose of the delegation's visit is to explore future collaborations between Mexico and Minnesota, especially educational exchanges between their colleges in Mexico and Minnesota State colleges and universities.
