Every year Southeast Technical's talented college students (and handful of employees) audition for the college's variety showcase. This year, those who were selected to perform will be featured in Strings, Winds & Brass at The Sheldon on March 28.

"The auditions were judged by a panel that included musicians, media, education, and entertainment professionals. We had 23 wonderful acts audition and the judges selected 15 of them to be featured in this year's performance. It will make for a terrific show with lots of variety," said Jo Poncelet, Southeast Technical Dean of Academics.

Southeast Technical's world-renowned band, guitar, and violin repair programs attract talented musicians from across the United States, from as far away as West Virginia, Texas, Colorado, and California. With everything from hurdy-gurdy to sousaphone to electric bassoon by composers ranging from Wolfgang Mozart to Taylor Swift, expect a musical tour that surveys the range of strings, winds and brass - hence the name of the show!

  • A Luthiers' Duet - two guitars
  • Carrie Allen - solo poet
  • Chamfered - hurdy-gurdy and guitar
  • Cymbalic Brass - trumpet, six trombones, and drums (pictured above)
