H.O.P.E. Academy
The Harnessing Opportunities for Post-Secondary Education (H.O.P.E.) Academic and Leadership Academy was held this week on the Winona State and Southeast Technical campuses.
"This is the sixth year of cooperation between Winona State University and Southeast Technical in the HOPE Academy," said Southeast Technical Vice President of Student Affairs, Nate Emerson. "This Academy brings diverse high school students from all over Minnesota together for Leadership training as well as teaching them math, science, English, along with other subjects pertinent to their next step which of course is college!"
The academy is free and open to ninth-grade through 12th-grade underserved and underrepresented Minnesota students. The purpose is to provide students with true campus living from dorms to classes. The students complete skill building activities that will help them overcome barriers to achieve a successful undergraduate college experience.
