Sales and Marketing student Steve Blue brought home a second place award from the Collegiate DECA invitational competition held this week in St. Cloud Minnesota. Blue competed with other students from around the state in the Sales Manager Meeting category. Students are given an arbitrary business scenario they may encounter in a day-to-day business setting and then asked to analyze and respond with a resolution or plan of action. A timed event puts an element of pressure on them to "think on their feet." The events are designed to teach participants a number of useful skills in preparing and responding to real-life business situations, learning from the feedback they receive. Blue is a student in the Sales and Marketing program with Terry Green as his instructor. He also works in the college IT department as a work study student. Blue will be joining classmates in the DEX (Delta Epsilon Chi) organization to continue on with competition at the state level in February.
