Monday April 10

RED WING CAMPUS: Community Open House and Career Fair
Students, come meet up with more than 30 regional employers! Our doors are open to the general public to visit campus and tour our facilities today from 3-5 pm. Plus workshops to help get you ready for the job search.

Tuesday April 11

WINONA CAMPUS: Spring Picnic and Career Fair
11 to 1 pm
Meet with almost 30 area employers and enjoy a delicious free lunch sponsored by Student Senate. Visit with the vendors and you'll eligible for Target Gift Card drawings! Just sign in at the "Student Check In" table to fill out a student name tag before checking in with the vendors.

Trempealeau Hotel Presents: Open Jam with The Organic Music Cooperative

How many basses, guitars, banjos, ukeleles, mandolins and cajones does it take to fill up the bar at The Hotel? We don't know yet, but we've had more than two dozen players join the open jam at a time. The repertoire ranges from country classics to indie hits and gives each and everyone a chance to play along and learn or take the lead and teach. And if you don't play an instrument, just come for the show --- it's a party.

PaKou Her Presents: 18 Million & Rising

PaKou Her is Director at 18MR, an AAPI (Asians and Pacific Islanders) online organizing and civic engagement organization building power through social media and tech. She joined 18MR in April 2013, bringing nearly two decades of anti-racism organizing experience and after two years with MoveOn.org. Come to hear her speak more about her organization!

From AIM to Standing Rock: An evening with Audrey Thayer

Audrey Thayer, an Anishinaabe elder from White Earth who teaches at Leech Lake Tribal College, is a long-term Indigenous activist involved in AIM, MCLU, and with the Standing Rock Water Protectors. - Free and Open to the Public.

Sheldon Theatre Presents:  Secret Agent 23 Skidoo

More Fraggles than Wiggles, more Soul Train than Thomas the Train, Family Kid-Hop star Secret Agent 23 Skidoo is equal parts Dr. Seuss and Dr. Dre! Youth, ages 9 - 13, will learn the basics of creating rhymes and lyrics, and how to get started creating their own beats as they craft their very own hip-hop song.

The theme for this month's presentation of the live community variety show is Hats and Shoes with host Damon Prestemon and a cast full of local talent featuring music, jokes, skits, poems, sponsor interviews, audience participation, spontaneous humor, sing along songs and more. Anderson House Exhibition Opening: Behind Closed Doors by Julie Sirek

The Anderson Center invites you to the opening reception of the exhibition of Behind Closed Doors, featuriing the work of Julie Sirek.  Julie Sirek is best identified as an artist with a social conscience. The issue of domestic violence is a constant theme in her work. She believes art is a vehicle capable of creating social awareness and change. Art breaks through barriers, connects across cultural differences, and engages our shared values. She works primarily with paper in conjunction with the process of joomchi. Through her adaptation of this ancient Korean technique, she transforms paper into a unique textile-like material. The artist will lead an informal discussion about her work to raise awareness of the devastating impact of domestic violence.

The Cincinnati based psych-rock/prog-pop quintet creates a heavy yet highly-melodic brand of psychedelic garage rock. Their signature three-guitar attack combines the classic rock pomp and stomp of Led Zeppelin with the paisley pop melodies and modern musicality of Queens of the Stone Age for a forward-thinking sound rooted in the past.

MSC Southeast's own Flatt & Square play bluegrass, Celtic & old country at the Staghead. No cover charge, but reservations might be a good idea if you want a table for dinner. 

Midwest Music Festival  LACROSSE @Various Venues in La Crosse WI
Midwest Music Festival is in La Crosse this weekend, April 14-15 and in Winona April 29-29.400+ performers, 14 venues, 130 acts, 2 historic River towns.The mission of the MWMF is to promote music and art activism in the region, creating opportunities for artists, stimulating downtown economic development, and providing diverse educational resources for artists, community members, and children. Here's the lineup for La Crosse.

Saturday April 15

Story Telling and Oral History workshop with Tatiana Pandiani

Join NYC performance director Tatiana Pandiani for this fun and active storytelling & oral history workshop. Story is at the center of performance director Tatiana's practice, beginning at the personal and traveling towards the political. Tatiana makes large scale interdisciplinary performances that create empathy on the on and off the stage, connect us to the past, and remind us of where we're going by drawing from 19th & 20th century history, especially as seen through the lens of womanhood, gender politics, media, and fashion. She specifically seeks out stories that empower women, represent diverse communities and protect their legacies.

Annie Mack is a Blues Vocalist born and raised in the Heart of North Minneapolis. Growing up in one of the most musically rich cities and being surrounded by creative energy she had always had a desire to pursue music. Many years later after experiencing some Life changing events she sought healing and found a home in The Blues. She has combined elements of Jazz,Funk and Soul to create a new and fresh take on Blues Classics while still paying respects to The Elders of the Blues. She delivers Soulful Vocals and Pure Emotion.
