Senator Jeremy Miller named Outstanding Alumni Awards Winner 2016, Winona Campus
On Wednesday, May 11, Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical Class of 2016 honored Senator Jeremy Miller as Outstanding Alumni of the Year, Winona Campus at its spring Commencement Ceremony, held at Winona State University.
"We are very proud to call Jeremy Miller one of our alumni and acknowledge him as our State Senator. Senator Miller is a loyal advocate for Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical and has students' best interests at heart," said Southeast Technical President Dr. Dorothy Duran. "We were honored to have him speak at our graduation ceremony."
A 2004 graduate of Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical, Jeremy Miller earned an associate of science degree in Accounting from the Winona campus. He is Chief Financial Officer for Wm. Miller Scrap Iron & Metal Co., where his responsibilities include accounting, business development, marketing, human resources, and domestic and global sales.
Jeremy is currently serving his second term as a member of the Minnesota Senate. He represents Minnesota's 28th District, which includes Fillmore, Houston, and Winona counties. As the ranking member on the Senate Higher Education & Workforce Development Committee, Jeremy has fought for higher education funding and bonding bills that support capital projects in our community. His interests as a state senator include stimulating job growth, improving educational outcomes, and preserving and protecting our unique natural resources.
Jeremy has maintained a strong connection with Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical through the years by contributing to the Southeast Technical Foundation, helping with countless Foundation and Alumni events, and sitting on the college President's Advisory Committee.
Jeremy and his wife, Janel, have three sons: Drew, who is four years old, and two-year old twins Luke and Tom.
