MSC Southeast to offer sixteen $2500 scholarships in 2018-2019 through Minnesota Workforce Development program

(Winona and Red Wing, MN) January 9, 2018 --- Employers in our region are asking for skilled, well-educated employees in Manufacturing, Health Care, and Information Technology. A new scholarship program has been developed to encourage students get a college education in these fields.

Thanks to Minnesota  Workforce Development Scholarship program, Minnesota State College Southeast will be able to award sixteen (16) $2500 scholarships to qualifying students who are starting college in Fall 2018. The deadline for to apply for the scholarship is March 1, 2018. 

These scholarships are targeted to new students entering the college in high growth, high demand careers. Examples of such programs at MSC Southeast include Industrial Technology, Practical Nursing, and Cyber & Information Security. (For a complete list, see below.)

While the scholarships are intended to recruit new high school grads, "non-traditional" students, such as adults re-entering the workforce or changing careers, are also eligible for the scholarships.

How to apply

Prospective students must apply online for admission to MSC Southeast with a fall start in one of the career program areas listed below. Then they must fill out and submit an application form for the scholarship by the March 1 deadline. To download the application form, go to www.southeastmn.one/scholarships .

 

  • Students must be enrolled for at least 9 credits per semester.
  • Can be used for a degree, diploma or certificate (minimum 18 credits)
  • Must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA.
  • Funds will be distributed in two installments of $1250 in Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters.

 

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2018. Scholarship awards will be announced on March 30, 2018.
