Winona Middle Schoolers learn about future education

Oct 18 2016 News 8/WKBT-TV La Crosse

Winona Middle School 8th graders attended labs and classes at Minnesota State College Southeast. The day was a chance for the students to get an idea of what they want to do when they're older.

Classes ranged from automotive technology to cosmetology, to nursing and radiography.

While some may think eighth grade is a little young to think of the future, these students will be quickly moving towards their goals.

"While some people think eighth grade is a little bit too young to start, it really isn't because many of them are thinking ahead a little bit. In a few months they'll be signing up for their ninth grade classes, which kind of starts them on their path. And it's good to go in with a plan,” said Winona Middle School Social Studies Teacher Rod Schwarz.

Most of the students attended the Cosmetology, Medical and Technician labs.
