Rochester Post-Bulletin: Pickers strum new instruments at SE Technical in Red Wing

RED WING -- From the first note, Julie Moxley's face was covered with a wide smile.
It was a look that was repeated among her classmates many times Tuesday during the student guitar show at Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical in Red Wing.
The aspiring luthiers, who are part of the first year guitar repair and building program and the second year guitar development and production program, handed over their instruments to professional guitarist during a showcase of the instruments the students have spent months constructing and refining.
"It's awe inspiring," Moxley said of her flat-top acoustic guitar in the hands of Phil Heywood. "I play guitar, but not like that. To see him tapping his foot and the little smile on his face, and know he was enjoying it."
