WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) - When the two-year colleges in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system announced they would offer free tuition for some students next year, many thought it was too good to be true.
"They ask 'Is this for real? Is this really how it is? Is it going to be free tuition?'" said Nate Emerson of Southeast Technical College. "Yep."
Indeed it's true--free college for the upcoming fall semester at any MnSCU junior college, whether it's RCTC, Riverland College, or Southeast Technical College. The MnSCU occupational grant pilot program is a product of last year's state legislature and administrators believe erasing the cost of college will go a long way.
