Republican-Eagle: PSEO cutting into RWPS state funding

As Red Wing Public Schools continues to work toward a balanced budget - making cuts in excess of $1.6 million for this year's budget last winter, as well as looking ahead at more cuts for next year - another piece of the puzzle was put into place this week.

According to Joe Jezierski, director of teaching and learning for Red Wing Public Schools, the district lost out on approximately $950,000 in state aid over the last two years due to students enrolling in Postsecondary Enrollment Options with Minnesota colleges and universities.

The district hopes to address the issue by partnering with Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical, where close to 80 percent of Red Wing High School's PSEO students enrolled in classes last year.
