Trucking in the trades: High-school students try out programs at Southeast Tech

Area high school students visiting Southeast Technical College on Wednesday had the rare chance to, among other things, try their hand at driving a semi-truck. Nearly 200 high school students flocked to Southeast Tech Wednesday for the school's Trade and Technology Day, designed to expose students to the trade and technology programs offered at the school through hands-on experience.
The high-schoolers could choose four programs to visit during the day, and Southeast Tech students and faculty toured them around and showed them the ropes. They had their pick among a handful of programs, such as carpentry, welding and auto body collision technology. Diesel maintenance, computer-assisted design and electronics were also on the list.
