Veterans Day ceremonies to take place at Southeast Technical Red Wing and Winona campuses on Nov. 10, 12

Winona and Red Wing, MN (November 2, 2015) – Minnesota State College – Southeast Technical will honor veterans and armed forces service members with Veterans Day ceremonies on both campuses. The public is warmly invited to attend, and service members are encouraged to wear their uniforms.

Both Veterans Day ceremonies will include music by a student brass ensemble from the Band Instrument Repair program and welcoming messages from campus officials, student representatives, and area veterans. There will also be a memorial in honor of prisoners of war and missing in action. Following the ceremony, refreshments will be served. Additional events are planned for each campus as part of the Veterans Day ceremony; details follow.

Red Wing Campus

• Southeast Technical will be recognized with State of Minnesota proclamation as an official “Beyond the Yellow Ribbon” college
•  Ribbon cutting opening the new Red Wing campus Veterans Center, which has been constructed with the support of Hiawatha Valley Family Beyond the Yellow Ribbon
• 21-gun salute and firing of a military cannon

Winona Campus
Wednesday, November 12, 2015 at 11 am
1250 Homer Road, Winona

• Southeast Technical President Dr. Dorothy Duran will present the college’s Presidential Award to Gene Barum, a 1972 graduate of the college. Gene was also a Vietnam War veteran who received a Purple Heart during his tour of duty.

Please note: Both campuses will be completely closed on Monday, November 9, in observation of the Veterans Day state holiday.
