MEDIA ADVISORY:  High school robotics students to demonstrate project at Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical

Date: Tuesday, February 17, 2015
Time: 4 to 6 pm
Location:  Southeast Technical, Winona Campus, Main Lobby
1250 Homer Road, Winona

This winter, members of the FIRST Robotics Team 3090 have been designing and building a robot in preparation for the North Star regional competition coming up April 1-4 in Minneapolis.

Come see their robot in action as they drive it around the lobby at Southeast Technical and it picks up various items and places them on the scoring platform!

The demonstration takes place on Tuesday, February 17 from 4-6 pm in the main lobby, Southeast Technical, Winona. The public and media are invited to attend.

The FIRST Robotics Competition began in 1991. Winona Senior High School formed Team 3090 in 2008. The goal of the robot competition changes each season. In January the new rules of the challenge are released with a standard set of parts. Teams must design, build, program, and troubleshoot their robot within a six-week time frame. Students remotely control the robot on a playing field in competition rounds. In the fall of 2013 Cotter High School formed a co-op with WSHS to allow Cotter students to join the learning and excitement as team members.
