Southeast Tech president Jim Johnson announces retirement

For his next career move, Southeast Technical College president Jim Johnson could be trading in the corner office for an office with a view from the seat of a commercial truck.

Johnson announced his retirement on Thursday, after more than 32 years with the college in a number of positions from trade and industry coordinator to college president. Johnson said one of the big reasons for announcing the retirement was to give the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system office time to search for his successor.

"My contract ends in June 2014," Johnson said. "I didn't want to go three more years. I'm still healthy and it's time to look at different things."
