Dr. Amy Maxeiner joins administration of Minnesota State College Southeast as Vice President of Student Success
Winona and Red Wing, MN (October 29, 2024) - Minnesota State College Southeast is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Amy Maxeiner as Vice President of Student Success, effective October 28, 2024. In this role, Dr. Maxeiner will lead Southeast's academic enterprise and student support services, which impact virtually every aspect of the student experience at the college.
"I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Amy Maxeiner to our college leadership team," said Dr. Marsha Danielson, President of Minnesota State College Southeast. "Her experience in both the academic and student success areas will allow her to immediately contribute to positive outcomes for our students."
"I am excited to be a part of an organization with a future-focused, comprehensive vision of student success," Dr. Maxeiner said. "I plan to begin by engaging with faculty, staff, and students to learn about the college from their perspectives."
Dr. Maxeiner comes to Minnesota State College Southeast with more than 20 years of experience in higher education administration. Most recently she worked from 2016 to 2024 at Black Hawk College (Moline and Galva, IL), a two-campus comprehensive community college serving 7,000 students. There she acted in a number of leadership roles, including Vice President for Instruction and Vice President for Instruction and Student Services.
From 2011 to 2016, Dr. Maxeiner served McHenry County College (Crystal Lake, IL) as Dean of Education and then Executive Dean of Mathematics, Sciences, and Health Professions. From 2006-2009, she served at the University of Illinois at Chicago as Director of Clinical Education and Clinical Assistant Professor. From 2001-2006 she was the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education at Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL).
Dr. Amy Maxeiner earned a doctor of education (Ed.D.) and a master's degree (MS) in Adult Education at Northern Illinois University, as well as a certificate in advanced graduate study focused on Advanced Quantitative Methodology in Education. She graduated with a bachelor of science in Physical Therapy from Marquette University.
Among many professional activities, she has served in leadership roles with the Illinois Council of Community College Chief Academic Officers and the Illinois Council of Community College Administrators. At Black Hawk College, she was on numerous committees, including the Higher Learning Commission Steering Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, the Strategic Enrollment Management Team, and the President's Cabinet.
"I am confident that Dr. Maxeiner's extensive high-level experience will make her an asset to our team," President Danielson said. "We are excited to work with her to strengthen our collaborative relationships with a broad range of partners throughout the region."
