Workforce shortages in trade, technology, and transportation careers are driving supply chain shortages and impacting businesses and individuals across America.

A possible solution? Recruit more women into these high-demand, high paying occupations.

Minnesota State College Southeast is contributing to that solution by hosting a day for high school women to explore options in Mechatronics, Electronics, Biomedical Technology, CNC Machine Tool, Welding, Construction Technology, Auto Mechanics, and Auto Body Collision Technology.

More than 30 young women from area high schools have signed up to participate. They will enjoy a day filled with hands-on experiences in these career areas, engaging in real-life work activities.

The program is offered at no cost to students and is sponsored by MSC Southeast with support from the National Science Foundation.

Agenda:

9:00 am Welcome and Brief Tour (Room 205)

10:00 am Program Areas
Students will break into small groups to spend 15-20 minutes in their chosen areas of interest to shadow MSC Southeast current students and/or work on activities. Students can explore as many program areas as they would like.

12:30 pm Lunch and Video

1:00 pm Females in Trades and Industry Panel Discussion
A panel of MSC Southeast students and current industry representatives will discuss what they do in trades, technology, and transportation, followed by a Q & A session.

2:00 pm Wrap-up and Thanks
