MINNEAPOLIS (AP/WXOW) -- Winona County is reporting 24 new cases of COVID-19 in the county on Saturday. It brings the total number of positive cases in the county to 390. 17 of those cases passed away from the virus.
On Friday, Winona County Health and Human Services released a statement stating they're seeing an upswing in cases recently. Many of the cases, the statement said, were associated with people between 18-24. On Thursday, the county said they had 32 new cases that day among people in that age demographic.
Friday's statement included comments from leaders at all three of Winona's higher learning institutions. ...
"At Minnesota State College Southeast, we have had students on campus safely since July," said MSC Southeast Interim President Larry Lundblad. "We want to keep our campuses open for Fall semester, so we need everyone's help -- students, faculty, and staff -- to make it possible. Taking the college's daily COVID-19 self-assessment, wearing masks, and following the Department of Health guidelines will help keep our students and our community safe."
