MSC Southeast named to list of Nation's Top Military Friendly(R) Schools

2019-2020 List of "Better for Veterans" Institutions Identified Across the Country

Military Friendly Logo 19-20Winona and Red Wing, MN (January 24, 2019) --- Minnesota State College Southeast is proud to announce that it has been named to the 2019-2020 Military Friendly(R) Schools list. Now in its 10th year, the Military Friendly(R) Schools list sets the standard for higher education institutions that provide the best opportunities for veterans and their spouses.

"We are very pleased to be named a Military Friendly(R) School for 2019-2020," said Larry Lundblad, Interim President, MSC Southeast. "We truly value our student veterans and active service members and appreciate their service to our country. We want to be a part of helping them achieve their goals."

Providing quality services for veterans is active priority at Minnesota State College Southeast. The college's financial aid department works with veterans and service members to make sure important forms and paperwork are submitted in a correct and timely fashion. On both the Winona and Red Wing campuses, veterans are invited to drop into the college's Veterans Centers, a place to relax, study, print homework, use the internet, or just have a cup of coffee.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly(R) School designation are evaluated using both public data sources and detailed responses from a proprietary survey completed by the school. Ratings are determined by combining the institution's survey scores with the assessment of the institution's ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default Rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

This year only 766 colleges and universities earned this prestigious designation. The 2019-2020 Military Friendly(R) Schools list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine. The complete list can also be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.
