- An optional syllabus template is available for
faculty within the D2L Faculty Hub.

Access to Syllabi – Uses,
Submission and Dissemination
Syllabi Uses
- The college will archive syllabi as accreditation evidence, or for distributing
to past students of a class for aiding in transfer to other institutions.
- Students
will be directed to contact the faculty member initially, if this is not
possible, students will work with the Academic Dean in following the protocol
for release of a syllabi (described below).
Syllabi Submission
- The Vice
President of Student Success will request, via email, the submission of class syllabi
each semester.
- Faculty will be
enrolled in a D2L Brightspace site created to facilitate this procedure after
the second week of the semester.
- To submit syllabi, faculty will:
a. Access the D2L
Brightspace site (https://southeastmn.learn.minnstate.edu/d2l/login)
b. Go to "MSC Southeast
Syllabi" course within D2L. Upon
entering the course, faculty will immediately see the "Assignments" section.
c. Select the appropriate
folder for the semester/year and submit syllabi for all of the faculty member’s
courses for that term.
d. When all syllabi
for this term are attached, click "Add" and then click "Submit" (faculty will
receive a confirmation email that submission has been received – confirmation
email may be kept by faculty for recording keeping purposes).
e. Faculty needing
assistance with this submission process should contact their Academic Dean.
Syllabi
Dissemination - Data Security
- Syllabi will only
be accessed and retrieved from D2L Brightspace upon specific student or
accreditation requests. Access to
submitted syllabi is restricted to:
a. The faculty who submitted the syllabi
b. Academic Administrators: Chief
Academic Officer, Academic Deans.
c. The contracted Learning Management System
(LMS) Administrator, for technical and maintenance purposes
d. Accrediting or licensing bodies/agencies
- Syllabi will be
stored within D2L Brightspace following submission according to college policy
of record retention, after which time the contracted LMS Administrator may
remove from the site, and would no longer be accessible within the site.
- The Academic Dean
accessing syllabi will provide written information to appropriate faculty
regarding need and distribution. In the
event that a faculty member is no longer employed at MSC Southeast,
administration will inform the AASC Chair of any syllabi distribution.
