PURPOSE:   

The purpose of this policy is to establish the official start date for Minnesota State College Southeast.  The official start date of the academic semester applies to the official beginning date for classes and does not apply to the first day of the faculty work year.

PART 1:  POLICY

Development of the college academic calendar is the responsibility of the President or his/her designee. The calendar will be developed and approved at least three years in advance. Input will be provided by faculty, support staff and administration. The calendar will be approved by Faculty Shared Governance. 

The college calendar is subject to modification or interruption due to occurrences such as fire, severe weather, labor disputes, interrupted utility services, civil disorder and war. In the event of any such occurrence the college will attempt to accommodate students. The college does not guarantee, however, that courses of instruction, co-curricular activities, or other college programs or events will be completed or re-scheduled. Refunds will be made to eligible students when appropriate in accordance with college policies 213 Dropping/Adding Courses and/or 214 Total Withdrawal, and with administrative judgment.
